The Mazda MX-5 is undeniably a saucy little minx. A gorgeous-looking little number, this super-cute convertible has been around the traps for quite some time now and there's a darned good reason for that.

Just like Elle Macpherson, the Mazda MX-5 keeps on getting better and better and is the perfect mix of beauty and brains. Delivering a superb drive along with awesome styling and looks, the MX-5 is lauded by car enthusiasts and drivers alike. But is she the car for you? Read on.

The scoop
The base model starts at $42,460 with the Roadster Coupe range with its foldaway hard top of lightweight composite materials begins at $47,200. Did you know the Mazda MX-5 is one of the best cars you can buy when it comes to maintaining its resale value?

The drive
Not just a pretty face, the Mazda MX-5 is quite simply breath-taking to drive. If you're after a race-car feel, the MX-5 delivers exactly that, along with comfort and the X-factor that one would expect when buying a convertible classic vehicle.

Light and quick to respond, the MX-5 fares just as well on the open road as she does in the city. Suspension is A1, brakes are calm and responsive and there's minimum noise and shudders.

The chairs are super comfortable with the seating position just right for the driver experience, the steering wheel is easily height-adjustable and with clean, classy lines and an all-leather interior, it all feels sumptuous and decadent.

Additionally, the MX-5 comes with cruise control, air-conditioning, a 7-speaker audio system with 6-disc stacker, a 3.5mm auxiliary input for external music players, front foglamps, power windows, power mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels.

And if you're expecting a small boot just because she's a convertible, I've got big news for you - this boot is large enough to allow for a few bags of luggage + some, weighing in at 150 litres.

Safety
With a 4-star crash safety rating, the Mazda MX-5 has ABS, traction control, stability control, front and side airbags, three-point pre-tensioning seatbelts and roll-over hoops.
