A colossal seven-seater, the Mazda CX-9 is a functional and stylish SUV with three models in its range: Classic $49,990, Luxury $56,990 and Grand Touring $63,186.
Style & drive
Because you need all the power you can get to move this beast, the Mazda CX-9 is appropriately fitted with Mazda’s largest engine: a 3.7 litre V6. The engine is a job well done – the car is powerful and sturdy, yet easy to drive. Reversing camera is also a more than welcome addition, taking the worry out of parking the oversized CX-9.
You know it’s a great family car because storage compartments, bag hooks and cup holders (10!) are a-plenty. The middle row – which has a 60/40 split – is very spacious and even has its own climate control, so no more fighting over the air conditioning. The third row – which has a 50/50 split – is also comfortable and easy to access (getting out is another story…) Leather seats and accommodating armrests round off the creature comforts. Nice.
If you want to take the Mazda CX-9 to the outdoors for your next family getaway; the Mazda CX-9 can tow trailers weighing up to 2000kg. And even with all seven seats occupied, there are still 267 litres of cargo space! Somebody must be listening to the Mums of the world when it comes to room in the boot after 7 seats are folded down - hello, we still need room for a pram and a few bags when we buy a 7-seater right? Sing hallelujah sisters!

Safety
There is no ANCAP crash-test rating but standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, dynamic stability control, emergency brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, roll stability control and front and side airbags for the driver and passenger, as well as a curtain airbag that extends to the third row.
Eco
The Government’s Green Vehicle Guide (www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au) rated it 3 out of 5 eco stars. It uses 11.3 litres of fuel per 100km.
