Mokosh Skincare

Mokosh can certainly add 'eco-friendly' to its already impressive list of organic and fair trade lip balms, body butters, liquid and bar soaps, face oils and bath bombs.

Friendly to environment & animals

They're one of the few soap makers that don't use palm oil.

Palm oil plantations destroy native forests in tropical and sub-tropical areas, contributing to the rise in greenhouse gases, and endangering both the orangutan and the Sumatran tiger.

Natural ingredients

Mokosh products only contain ingredients that are as near as possible to their original state, such as virgin, unrefined and cold-pressed oils and butters. Refined ingredients strip beneficial properties and can also become contaminated with the chemicals used to 'purify' them.

Mokosh products contain predominantly certified organic or certified biodynamic ingredients. This means they have been grown without artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides, in a manner that sustains the soil and the ecosystem around it.

Human rights

Mokosh is proud to source Fair Trade ingredients when buying from developing countries. In some cases, they choose Fair Trade over certified organic because they feel that Fair Trade is a fundamental human right that we should all make a priority (fair trade helps the world's poorest communities step out of poverty without being exploited by Western companies for cheap labour and prices).

One of their favourite ingredients is unrefined, Fair Trade shea butter. The unrefined version is latte-coloured, has a mellow earthy scent, and is packed with nutrients, many of which are removed from refined versions.

When you buy Fair Trade, you're supporting workers receiving a fair price for their goods and labour; sustainable development of the community economically, environmentally, socially and politically; protection of children's rights; and women and men receiving equal pay for equal work. We love what Mokosh is doing! Do you? Have your say in the Forum.
