We asked celebrity chef and LG Electronics ambassador Darren Simpson to tell us about his drives, passions and cooking tips for Mums…

You’re holding a dinner party and can invite 5 people – who would you invite and what would you cook?

Nelson Mandela, for words of wisdom; Elizabeth David (famous cookery writer),  to hear her stories about life and food; Joan Rivers, so she can make everyone laugh and cry at the same time; Tom Carrol (famous surfer) because he’s a good friend and I really want him to teach me how to surf; and Kate Moss, because she is HOT! 

What car do you drive at the moment?

Audi A3 1.8 turbo.

What’s your dream car and why?

Aston Martin. Why not?!

What makes you happy?

Being content and my family.

What do you do in your spare time?

Snorkelling, fly fishing, kayaking and wind surfing.

What are your pet hates?

Rude, single-minded people.

What are your top cooking tips for busy Mums?

Make time to cook with your children and then they will learn to eat well.

What are the worst mistakes Mums can make in the kitchen?

Not cooking with and for their children.

Do you have any role models?

My grandfather, because he was amazing and taught me how to have fun from a very young age.

Who’s your favourite chef/cook?

Rose Gray from the River Café [in London] – she had a real feeling for food, knew when some thing was good and when to stop.

Do you have any children?

Angus 7, and Hamish 5.
