Excerpt
"Blame it on the dog
Since your first symptoms of pregnancy, if you're like me, you may have had some, uh, interesting special effects. Bloating, burping, and farting are a by-product of progesterone, so there's no getting around an increase in gas manufacturing during pregnancy. In addition, you have a person growing inside of you who takes up room, which puts pressure on your digestive system, and presto! – you're the life of the party!
Passing gas like a truck driver will no doubt make you a hero with the 7-year-old boys. Or, if you have young children, you will be somewhat of a star for burping and farting louder than the characters on South Park – but other than the grammar school set, you are out of luck. What to do? You can carry a small dog in your purse, or you can follow some simple steps to reduce the pressure:
1. Drink more water.
2. Avoid gassy foods like cabbage, beans, and onions.
3. Eat smaller meals – and eat slower!
4. Keep an eye out for the nearest ladies' room!"
