Blue Skies tells the inspirational story of a young woman battling to save the family farm no matter what it takes.

Armed with an honours degree in agribusiness, Amanda Greenfield dreams of employing all the skills she's learnt at college to help her father turn the family farm (‘Kyleena’) from a debt-ridden, run-down basket case into a thriving enterprise.

Then tragedy strikes with the death of Amanda's mother in a car accident.

Wracked by grief and guilt, and wearied by the long struggle to keep Kyleena running, Amanda's father argues they should sell the farm and get on with their lives away from the drought, and fluctuating stock and crop yields.

Having inherited half the farm from her mother, Amanda determines to summon all her strength, grit and know-how to save the farm. Along the way she faces mixed fortunes in love and more...

RRP $32.99, 304 pages.

What I like about this book is that there isn’t an over-abundance of characters (there are only 4) put into the storyline, making it a realistic rural story, with the main ingredient being passive determination.

I found this book gives encouragement to hang in there and strive for something worthwhile – for your passion in life. I give it a 3 out of 5.
