Riding on Air

If you really think about it, it's the air in your tyres that carry both you and your passengers around in your car and so ensuring your tyres are pumped up to the appropriate level is super important.

Did you realise that your car's tyres should be pumped to a certain pressure dependant on the car load and even the speed you drive? And the pressure should be checked regularly, weekly in fact if the tyres are old.

Feeling the Pressure

As women traditionally think of tyres as 'boys stuff', we tend to leave the tyre pumping action up to the men. However, it's a simple exercise that we can do regularly all by ourselves and it's imperative for our safety!

Now if you are unsure of what your tyre pressure should be, the answer is inside your car already – there is a tyre placard usually inside the driver's door sill, your glove box, the fuel filter cap or under your bonnet.

Get it Right

But be careful not to over or under inflate your tyres! It is imperative that you get it right - over inflation reduces the ability of the tyre to absorb road shock (this usually results in a 'rockier' ride) and over inflation can be equally as bad, causing excessive movement in the tyre (this builds up excessive amounts of heat and eventually creating weakness).

Remember, irregular tread wear = new tyres quicker!
