What Teens Really Think about Safety and Car Buying

A new survey by vedaauto.com and Habbo Hotel (called 'Next Generation of Drivers' survey) revealed impressive and alarming facts about teenagers' attitudes to car and safety issues...
Buying a car
Generation Z is financially aware, with 39% claiming price was the key consideration for them when purchasing a car. Looks and style of car followed with 22%, and 11% revealed that environmental impact would affect their purchasing decision.
Teens & safety
Australian teens are honest and safety conscious - more than three-quarters (76%) said they would tell the truth about how many practice hours they completed and the conditions they drove in to attain their driver's license.
Wearing seatbelts
Over three quarters (78%) of Australian teens said they wear a seatbelt all the time when driving or being driven, and 13% said they wear a seatbelt most of the time. Alarmingly, 3% of teens didn't wear a seatbelt at any time, with a further 3% only wearing a seatbelt when being driven, and 3% wearing a seatbelt only when driving.
Drink driving
The majority (84%) said they would not get in the car with a friend who had been drinking. Although 7% said they would get in a car with a friend who had been drinking, and 9% of respondents weren't sure.
Speeding
Over three quarters (77%) of respondents said they would tell a friend to slow down if they were speeding (12% weren't sure, and 11% would)
Almost half (49%) of the respondents surveyed came from households with three or more cars.
