Concerned motorists can rest easy in the knowledge that most Australian women don't in fact wear high-heels while driving.

We've de-bunked the age-old myth of women donning heels behind the wheel by asking over 5000 women if they wore high-heeled shoes while driving. 76 per cent of women responded with a resounding "No way! Never!"

"The reality is that most women find driving in heels incredibly uncomfortable and are aware of the safety risks involved with driving with their heels on," says AutoChic founder Juliet Potter.

"Although women care about their appearance, it seems that with women, safety always comes first."

And the best shoes while driving according to Juliet? "Flat, thin-soled shoes with good grip that won't slip off - like snug ballet flats or trainers. They should be light-weight and not hinder any ankle movement."
