Poll

Over the years, we have been working front-line with all the major car companies in Australia and are in the know about who genuinely cares about women - and who are 'faking' it. But who do you think are the most female-friendly brands?

Please Help Raise Awareness of Driveway Accidents

With three children injured in driveway accidents in less than a fortnight, AutoChic is desperate to help raise awareness about preventative safety measures to avoid these tragic incidents.

The reality is that on average, one child per week is run over in the driveway of their home in Australia.

These tragic incidents are avoidable by way of installing safety features such as rear parking cameras and sensors and of course by way of awareness, which is where AutoChic is stepping up.

With three accidents of this kind in less than a fortnight, we are calling on all women to help spread the message by sharing and liking the AutoChic Facebook page so we can implore the Department of Transit and Regional Services to ensure all cars sold in Australia are fitted with a reverse camera and sensors as mandatory.

We are asking women to raise awareness by circulating the following safety measures to keep in mind when reversing in the driveway:

•    Switch the radio off and wind the windows down as you’re reversing so you can hear everything around you.

•    Don’t be in a hurry. When you’re in a rush you’re not thinking properly. Slow down.

•    Before entering the vehicle, take the time to walk around the car and check your surroundings. Make this routine.

•    Don’t assume you know where your child is. Make sure you KNOW exactly where your child is at all times.

•    Don’t assume that you know where other children from around the neighbourhood are. These accidents can happen to other children, not just your own.

•    Don’t ever let your kids play on the driveway. Don’t even make the driveway a play area to begin with. Driveways are for cars, backyards are for playing.

•    If your children are inside, make sure the front door is secure. Make sure they don't have easy access to the driveway or to the road. Apply the same rules you apply to the backyard swimming pool gate.
