Research by Transport Research Laboratory (UK) found that kids squabbling in the back can slow drivers’ reaction times by 13% – similar to those who have reached the legal limit for driving after drinking alcohol.
This slower reaction time can cost up to 4 metres’ stopping time when driving on highways, which can be deadly.
The researchers also found that the distraction from arguing kids caused 40% more hard braking, and ramped up driver’s stress levels by 33%.
