Get excited! BP has launched a new high-performance diesel fuel designed to achieve more kilometres per tank while improving engine performance and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

It's called 'BP Ultimate Diesel' and is compatible with all diesel vehicles.

"Diesel vehicle sales in Australia have increased by 34 per cent since 2003," says BP Fuels Marketing Manager, Jim Parry.

"The launch of BP Ultimate Diesel reflects BP's commitment to product innovation and to providing the motoring public with a choice of cleaner and more efficient fuels. BP Ultimate Diesel is our most advanced diesel fuel yet and we are very pleased to be making it available to our diesel customers in Queensland."

Benefits: Better fuel economy

BP Ultimate Diesel can help increase the kilometres per tank with ongoing use.

The advanced formulation, with its powerful cleaning properties and higher cetane rating, improves fuel efficiency. Tests conducted in independent laboratories on a range of vehicles showed an average improvement in fuel economy of 1 per cent with the largest improvement in a passenger car was observed of 3 per cent.

No more spills at the pump!

BP Ultimate Diesel contains an anti-foaming agent that reduces the foaming that can occur during the refuelling process. This can eliminate splashback and spillage as well as reduce the odour commonly associate with ordinary diesel fuel.

Hand wipes will also be available at all BP Ultimate Diesel bowsers adding to a more pleasant refuelling experience. 

Reduced emissions

BP Ultimate Diesel is formulated to reduce exhaust emissions. In tests conducted on a wide range of vehicles, it delivered reductions in the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), unburnt hydrocarbons (HC) and particulates found in exhaust emissions. BP Ultimate Diesel has a guaranteed cetane rating minimum of 50, which is a key measure of diesel fuel efficiency as compared to the Australian standard of 46 minimum.

Cleaner engine

BP Ultimate Diesel is a cleaner fuel, as it burns more evenly and completely. It can remove the deposits that ordinary diesel leaves behind on critical engine components such fuel injectors. In tests conducted, BP Ultimate Diesel increased fuel flow by 380 per cent at the critical early stages of injection.

BP Ultimate Diesel is formulated to protect an engine against the harmful effects of corrosion and wear. Over time, corrosion inside an engine can lead to increased wear and tear. An engine of this type is a less reliable engine, which could actually shorten the life of the engine.

Improved performance

BP Ultimate Diesel delivers power and acceleration benefits compared to ordinary diesel. Independent tests on passenger vehicles showed an increase in power output of up to 8.3 per cent (average 2.8 per cent) and an improvement in acceleration of up to 7.9 per cent (average 2.2 per cent) compared with ordinary diesel.

Lower engine noise

Noise is a familiar problem associated with engines powered by ordinary diesel.

The poor combustion characteristics of some ordinary diesels can lead to excessive engine noise and vibration, especially in cold conditions. As a result of its powerful cleaning properties and high cetane rating, BP Ultimate Diesel can improve engine noise compared to ordinary diesel and contribute to a quieter drive.

Where can I get BP Ultimate Diesel?

BP Ultimate Diesel will be rolled out across approximately 70 sites in Brisbane from October 6.  It is also available in 40 sites in Perth.
