Jurlique Chamomile Soothing Mist

Jurlique Chamomile Soothing Mist

advertisement ^

Jurlique skincare products are loaded with natural, biodynamic herbs and flowers nurtured by hand on the company's organic and NASAA-(‘National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia)’-certified, biodynamic farm in South Australia.

For those thinking a puzzled 'huh?!', 'biodynamic farming' is similar to organic farming (no chemicals); but is more 'holistic' and boho-chic, Sienna-Miller-esque; as you grow and plant with calendered cycles of the sun and moon.

Jurlique's cute values

"Life comes from life. The soil is alive, plants and flowers are living, life is ever-present and recurring.
That life is in our products. Our products are very much alive,
the moment that they touch your skin.

Energy comes from energy. We grow and plant with the dynamic cycles
of the sun and the moon.
We feed the energy that exists in our plants.
That energy is present in every living cell.
We harvest that energy into our products.
On our skin it creates the most effective results.

Beauty comes from beauty. Beauty is not processed. It is not made in lab.
It is grown and cultivated and cared for passionately.
It is not artificial. It is as real as our bodies and our skin.
Beauty is not always perfect, but in its imperfection, is beauty.
We take beauty from the earth’s unspoiled sources,
we bring that beauty alive in our products,
onto our skin, where it gives us beauty."

Moisture Replenishing Day Cream

Rating: 5/5.

Spiel: A rich moisturiser infused with calendula, chamomile, rosehip and avocado to protect the skin from dryness. Claims to leave skin feeling balanced with a healthy-looking glow – ideal for rebalancing dryness. View full ingredients list here.

Verdict: I just love this cream! It's very thick, and moisturises and 'plumps' the skin right away! It has a subtle, uplifting smell – I'm guessing it's the chamomile – and is just lush! I love it! I have very sensitive (and very dry) skin and usually get a reaction as soon as I put new products on my face, but this gave me no reaction! As for my extremely dry skin – within seconds of applying this cream, my skin looks moisturised and not dry at all.

On the down-side, it leaves a little shiny look on your face as it's so thick and nourishing, but it wouldn't deter me from using it!

I also don’t like the tube – it’s like a paint tube, kind of matte-tinny/soft crinkly-feeling; but the box packaging is nice and is made from 80 per cent post-consumer recycled fibre, and 20 per cent FSC-('Forest Stewardship Council')-certified fibre.

Price: $48 – 40 ml; $85 –125 ml.

Chamomile Soothing Mist

Rating: 2/5.

Spiel: A gentle soothing mist, containing chamomile and marshmallow to calm, tone and soothe. Claims to leaves skin refreshed and is great for rebalancing sensitivity.
View complete ingredients list here.

Verdict: The 30 ml size is very small for $23 and the main ingredient is water, followed by alcohol (drying?!). Too pricey! The actual product is refreshing and has a lolly-like, citrus/subtle chamomile scent to it. It's nice, and does seem to moisten the skin when you spray it on, but I wonder if something like Evian water or any pure water sprayed on your face in the same spritzer bottle would have similar effects? I think it would be good though to spray some on your face, then lock the moisture in by placing a moisturiser over the top if you're into these mists (I'm not really sold on any brand of mist).

Price: $23 – 30 ml; $37 – 100 ml.

Nurturing Mask

Rating: 4/5.

Spiel: A gentle purifying mask, rich in groomwell and sichuan peppercorn to clarify, hydrate and soothe. Claims to leaves delicate skin feeling soft, pure and revitalised, and is ideal for sensitive skin. View complete ingredients list here.

Verdict: I have extremely sensitive skin (even some tap waters irritate it!) but this mask didn't give me a bad reaction at all. It smells pleasant (a subtle, light, soft scent that's kind of citrus-y/chamomile-y), dries really fast (it says leave it on for 10 minutes and mine fully dried in about three), leaves skin soft and you don't even feel that you need to put a moisturiser on after like you normally would with most other clay-based (kaolin – white clay – in this case) masks. It's a good mask and I love the natural ingredients. It's a winner in terms of clay masks!

Like the moisturiser, I don’t like the packaging – it’s like a paint tube; with a really soft-tin feeling.

Price: $55 – 40 ml; $95 – 125 ml.
